About Adaptive Classes
In 2019, our chapter partnered with Ernie Els #GameOn Autism Golf to offer golf and life skills programming to organizations in our community that serve those with special and adaptive needs. Since then, we have worked with organizations like the The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Recreation, Bobbie B. Fairfax School, the Heidt Center for Excellence, and Autism Connections to deliver customized programs that introduce golf in a fun, safe, and positive environment.
The Adaptive Golf Series
In Collaboration with Bridge Adaptive Sports & Recreation.
The Adaptive Golf Series provides a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering introduction to golf for individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities. Designed for all skill levels, this four-week series focuses on skill development, community, and fun, culminating in a real on-course experience.
Weekly Schedule
- Weeks 1–3 (Skills & Drills): We will meet on the driving range and putting green. Participants will engage in adaptive games and activities designed to build confidence, technique, and mechanics in a supportive environment.
- Week 4 (On-Course Play): Athletes will take everything they’ve learned out onto the golf course for an exciting, friendly team-scramble format.
Our Coaches & Program
Classes are led by Els for Autism or USAGA (United States Adaptive Golf Alliance) certified coaches and supported by passionate volunteers from who specialize in working with kids with adaptive needs. The program will introduce golf using activities that spark curiosity and excitement, all while integrating First Tee’s core lessons and the Els for Autism Golf curriculum.
